Services

Website Accessibility Audits

A website accessibility audit matches your website against the World Wide Web Consortium Web Accessibility Guidelines and covers all checkpoints relating to A, AA (and/or AAA) compliance. A comprehensive audit of the website provides a 35 to 50 page report and set of recommendations with examples.

The most important points are highlighted so that you can make immediate improvements to the site. The cost of an audit depends on the size of the website and the time taken; a full accessibility audit can cost £1600 and upwards.

However, a less detailed audit with a short report highlighting the most critical issues can also be carried out, starting at £800.

There are a number of ways we can provide web accessibility related support for your project or organisation.

Accessible websites and databases

We can work collaboratively with with your existing developer or undertake periodic audits and reports after work has been done. For example: we can provide help to ensure the 'front-end' to the web organisation database is accessible. This would include ensuring that search and report forms are accessible to screen reader users or people with a motor impairment. Also that the database design can be used by someone who has Dyslexia - (as they may need to change contrast to suit their own needs). Website design will meet the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to an agreed level.

Issues addressed

Would include for example:

The foregoing is not an exhaustive list, but it gives an idea of the range of work we could undertake.

Approach

Work can be carried out in conjunction with your existing web designer/developer; providing advice and support and by passing on knowledge and techniques relating to accessible website design (and the W3C Guidelines).

This can be done informally or formally as part of a training course. The aim is to ensure that issues are discovered early in the project, so that they do not need to be re-visited at a later date.

Customising to meet your needs

You may want to arrange different pieces of work as distinct jobs for an agreed price. For example: an website audit for an agreed price), or by a more open-ended approach, that is, agreeing a certain number of hours over a set period of time.

An example: £1500 for 4 days of work per month. This could include a range of services and support: on-site support, support via telephone and email, assistance with website development, on-going audit of the website as it develops, discussion and advice about the website. Issues addressed would include:

Alternatively you may want to pre-buy shorter blocks of time (say 10 hours) which you are free to use over a set period (e.g., a month). Cost per 10 hour block is £850).
